Jennifer Petersen MA, LPC
Jennifer has over 25 years working with children and families in home-based, school, clinical and educational settings. She has experience working with diverse populations throughout Colorado. Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters in Community Counseling with a concentration on children and families and has been licensed as a professional counselor since 1999.
Jennifer’s broad experience began in 1987 as an early childhood educator which inspired her to pursue a formal education to serve families. She has been fortunate to experience a wide range of positions in both the community non-profit and private sectors, working with families in a variety of circumstances. During the last 11 years she has focused on treating trauma from a physiological perspective using Neurofeedback with therapeutic consultation. Jennifer’s personal experience as a parent and step-parent has inspired her to evolve as a clinician that values the integrity of the individuals with the goal of achieving optimal wellbeing for all.
Alicia Guler, MA, LPCC, NCC
Alicia is a counselor and neurofeedback technician who recently graduated from Adams State University with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Alicia is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Alicia has worked with Jennifer since the beginning of 2021, where she discovered a passion for using neurofeedback as part of her practice.
During her extensive education, Alicia completed internships providing neurofeedback and individual counseling in private and non-profit community mental health practice settings. She has a passion for working with children, teens, and adults and brings creativity, collaboration, and a sense of humor to each session. Alicia allows compassion, empathy, and curiosity to guide her approach. She feels honored to sit with and support clients as they embark on their healing journeys.
Katie Cortez, MA, LPCC
Katie has been working in the Mental Health field with diverse populations for over a decade. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health from Adams State University in 2020 and her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Colorado State University in 2014. Katie completed her Practicum and Internship for her Master’s program at Innovative Neurofeedback in 2020 and is currently working towards licensure under Jennifer Petersen’s Supervision.
Katie has over two years of experience utilizing Neurofeedback in her counseling sessions and is amazed at the accelerated progress client’s experience from the added support of brain training. As a Clinician, Katie prioritizes meeting the client where they are and going from there. Katie takes a person-centered approach in her counseling sessions and believes every individual is the expert of their own life. Katie’s role is to empower her client’s to work through their mental health struggles and reach their fullest potential.
When asked why Katie does what she does, her response is as follows:
“We so often underestimate the power of human connection, the power that lies within the strength of our vulnerabilities and the simplicity of telling our stories in safe spaces. The depth of healing that comes from that alone, now that's what I am here for, it's why I do what I do and more importantly, why I love what I do!”
